GATE study material

Undergraduates who wish to pursue a Master’s degree must sit for the GATE exam. Only for those who major in engineering, architecture, science and technology, the GATE exam, which is held once a year isn’t an easy test to score without preparation. A big component of prep work for the exams is GATE study materials.

WHERE TO FIND GATE STUDY MATERIAL
There are a few places you can check out for study materials, which are either free or paid.

The internet
The internet has a vast treasure trove of both free and paid study materials. Students past and present share study materials online, usually for free. You can download and use them at no cost to your pocket but share them with others as well down the line. Another alternative is paid coaching sites that you need to enroll in before they give you access. Paid is usually more expensive but less time consuming as all the GATE study material have been provided.

Friends and family
Try asking friends or family who has already sat for their GATE exams. They usually don’t need it and you don’t need to buy new ones. Always check if the study materials are up to date to stay on the safe side.

Faculties
As part of your fees, the faculty will, of course, provide you with necessary study materials that you can use. You can be assured the ones provided are recent as well.

TYPES OF GATE STUDY MATERIAL

Videos
Video lectures are easier to learn from as the theories are taught visually as opposed to reading them off a textbook but they are not easy to find.

Mock Test
Use mock tests to practice answering exam questions and familiarize yourself with the exam format and marking scheme.

Handwritten notes
Ask around for previous batches handwritten notes which are usually more concise, although you might not be able to read the handwriting!

Reference books
Purchase reference book pertinent to your topic and make sure you pick a good one. It should be the latest, or at least a few years old so the format is still relatively the same.
